Invite Flyers March Route Fact Sheet Pics Contact Us

As a supporter of the mission/goals of the New York City Brides' March, we request that you:

1) Read/become familiar with the March Invite and Route, and the information below so that you are fully informed with the logistics of the March, and are prepared to promote and share the March's info with others.

2) Copy the Route flyer onto the back of the English and the Spanish Invite flyers, and make as many two-sided copies as you can/need. Feel free to translate the Invite to other languages.

3) Begin promoting the March by disseminating the Invite/Route flyer immediately to your constituency, colleagues and community using as many forms of dissemination (fax, email, handout) as possible, and encourage participation/support.

4) Ask your friends/family/neighbors to help you spread the word by sharing the info/flyer with their circle of friends/colleagues.

5) Take a stance against domestic violence and join hundreds of women on Sept 26th, and march in a wedding gown!

6) Encourage men who denounce domestic violence, to support us by wear all black symbolizing mourning.

7) Inform us ASAP but no later than noontime, September 21, of how many women from your group you anticipate will march in wedding dresses. (We need this info for press release that will go out on 9/23)

8) Inform us ASAP but no later than September 21 if your group of marchers will march from the March's' "gathering" place or from one of the other points/legs throughout the March (see the Route flyer for March Legs)

9) Inform/remind your marchers that we will be walking on city streets; that they should wear conformable foot wear; that they MUST obey crosswalk signs and practice safety at all times during the March.

10) Inform your marchers that the media/press will cover the March; that the possibilities of them being photographed does exist (for confidentiality/safety reasons, women who cannot risk being photographed/exposed, and have decide to march, we suggest that they wear a white or black veil to cover their faces but, they cannot assume that the veil will keep them/their faces from being exposed completely/100%)

11) Inform your marchers that they are responsible for their own lunch (we will have bottled water distribute to marchers throughout the March but, this is limited to a few hundred bottles, therefore, we encourage marchers to bring their own)

12) Help the NYLADV disseminate to bystanders/onlookers throughout the March the bilingual Fact Sheet on domestic violence and resources available to battered women. Fact Sheet will be posted on the site days before the March for supporters to make copies of and bring to the March.
